news - legend of zelda: skyward sword finally lands a release date

I've already played the game at two E3 conventions, wondering when I will get to love this gem from my own home. Well, today Nintendo tells all, and The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword will be hitting store shelves this November.

You heard it right! The fully CGI rendered Tekken: Blood Vengeance will be playing in select theaters tomorrow night only, and it just happens that two of those theaters are here in Baton Rouge. Playing at 7:30 p.m. at both Citiplace 11 and Cinemark in Perkins Rowe, this will be your only chance to see the movie before it's released as part of the Tekken Hybrid pack later on this fall. Added bonus, the viewing will be in 3D! Following the presentation, there will be an added 20 minute segment that includes interviews with the Tekken project director and screenwriter.

One of the biggest recent announcements for us gamers came when a sequel to the two previous MegaMan Legends was confirmed to be releasing on the Nintendo 3DS. The internet was flooded with excitement and posts of people getting the handheld in anticipation for the game. Well, today, Capcom is telling those people to go on ahead and trade in the system.

This year marks the 15th anniversary of the Dead or Alive franchise, and with that, Tecmo is releasing Dead or Alive Dimensions for the Nintendo 3DS. This will be the first time a Dead or Alive game has ever made an appearance on a Nintendo platform, more importantly the first time DOA has been released without the series' creator, Tomonobu Itagaki.

For the last 9 years, I feel like the Mortal Kombat series has been hindered in the 3D realm. Last generation's hardware held back the series from being something truly great. The 3D-style movement wasn't a bad addition to the series, but it never really felt like "Mortal Kombat" to me. To top it all off, the series' first next gen release was so censored and toned down that I can't even consider it a true Mortal Kombat game.

Insect annihilating is back as D3 Publisher is about to release the newest game in it's third-person shooter series Earth Defense Force. And it looks to be the best one yet!

June 2011 was one of the best months this year for releases. There was way too much fun to be had. But here at HIGH-SCORES, we've got to narrow down our best game experience of the month. It's going to be a tough one this go-round.

The newest creation of award-winning designer Tetsuya Mizuguchi (Rez, Lumines), Child of Eden is a "rhytm action game" that serves as the prequel to Rez. You are tasked with saving Project Lumi, an attempt at reproducing a human personality in Eden, from an oncoming virus attack across 5 uniquely designed levels, each with it's own environment.

Nearly 13 years ago, Nintendo graced us with the first 3D Zelda game. Since, it has been highly praised as one of the greatest games ever, and by countless others as the #1 best game ever. Hell, even by Gamerankings.com, it is the best.

Damn it feels good to be back in 2D! I didn't necessarily dislike the last 4 Mortal Kombat games (Deadly Alliance - MK vs DC Universe), but I found myself playing Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 more often. There's just something about the original MK formula that just didn't translate well to 3D gameplay. But when I saw that first trailer for the newest Mortal Kombat, my heart stopped. Finally, a revisit to what made the series great to begin with.

I wasn't really sure to expect when I found out that the newest Motorstorm was going to take place in a post-apocalyptic city. The last two PS3 titles were so beautiful and rich with color and vegetation. All the screen shots for Apocalypse just looked so dull and dreary, I couldn't imagine it holding up to the others. I was wrong. So very wrong.

E3 2011 - hands on with WiiU

After seeing the unveiling of the console at Nintendo's press conference Tuesday morning, I couldn't wait to get my hands on WiiU. I'm not big on all the motion gaming, but it definitely had me intrigued. Seamless controller-to-console gameplay, and vise versa, I had to experience it for myself.

After only a 20 minute wait in line (because we were extremely lucky and picked out for a "VIP" line of sorts) I finally got to put my hands on it. Everything about the new console feels great. Even the simplest tech demos that were shown really showed what this console is capable of.

Without a doubt in my mind, Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP is by far the greatest gaming experience I've had yet this year. On any platform.

Resident Evil Mercenaries VS. is Capcom's latest iOS release. Taking the gunplay formula from the last two games in the series and adding a deathmatch / hi-score twist to it, Mercenaries VS. is actually quite fun.

Mortal Kombat's first DLC character was released today. 'Skarlet' is an all new character to the series, though originally thought to have been a hidden character in Mortal Kombat II because of a glitch in the game that colored one of the female ninjas red.

Story-wise, Skarlet is a creation of Shao Kahn. A warrior created from the blood of his enemies, fused together by sorcery. Skarlet draws power and strength from the blood of her defeated enemies. Skarlet is a blood ninja, and it definitely shows.

At approximately 3:30 a.m. EDT 'Jackass' crew member and co-host of G4's 'Proving Ground', Ryan Dunn passed away as the result of a high speed car crash in West Goshen Township, Pennsylvania. Ryan was only 34 years old, and will be forever missed.

The newest expansion for Call of Duty: Black Ops has just been announced. "Annihilation" will include 4 new multiplayer maps: Hangar 18, Drive-In, Silo, and Hazard. As well as a new zombies map, Shagri-La. Once again the content will be available on 360 first on June 28. Everyone else will have available about a month later. With PS3 owners only recently being able to download the Escalation pack, I'm sure the wait won't be too long.

By far one of THE BEST games on the Gamecube (and a launch title at that!), Luigi's Mansion is easily one of the most memorable titles in Nintendo's history. news - playstation store is back up!

Well there goes my paycheck... After a month long hiatus, SONY has finally restored service to its Playstation Store. As far as new content goes, there's not much at the moment and no sign of the "Welcome Back" content, but that's likely to change over the next few days. There have been many people having troubles with getting error messages, myself included, but its likely the result of traffic overload. Just keep signing back in, you'll access it after a couple of tries.
